The user interface (UI) text strings for MES model-driven application content packages have been translated for the following languages: Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. The sets of localized files for the translated languages and the Language Installation wizard application for installing them are provided in the MES model-driven application content installation Zip file.

For complete instructions for how to localize UI text, see the topic "Steps to Localize Work Tasks" in the Work Tasks Developer Guide.

The general procedure for setting up localized files for the MES model-driven application content is:

  1. Use the Work Tasks Farm Configuration Wizard to create a new Enterprise Console web site to access the target culture.

  2. In the web.config file for the new Enterprise Console, change the globalization settings to the target culture.

    For example, for French:

    <globalization culture="fr-FR" uiCulture="fr-FR" requestEncoding="utf-8" responseEncoding="utf-8"/>

  3. In the extracted MES MDM Application Content 7.0.zip files, locate and run the Localization Setup.exe.

    The Language Installation wizard appears.

  4. Select the target language and click Install.

The localized files for the selected language are copied from the folders in the extracted files to the appropriate Work Tasks application folders.

    For example, for French:

    • The French MDM*.txt files from the Forms2 folder in the extracted files are copied to the Work Tasks Locales/fr-FR/Forms2 folder.

    • The French MDM*.txt files from the Forms2/Standard folder in the extracted files are copied to the Work Tasks Locales/fr-FR/Forms2/Standard folder.

When the copying is complete, the confirmation dialog appears.

  5. Select OK.

  6. Stop Work Tasks Services and reset IIS.

  7. Clear your web browser cache.

  8. Delete the cache files from the following folder:

    • C:\Windows\Temp\WorkTasksTemp

  9. Delete the .NET Framework temp files from the following folders:

    • C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\centralconfig

    • C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\enterpriseconsole

  10. Restart the Work Tasks Services.

  11. Log into the Enterprise Console application for the target culture.

  12. Republish all the forms to apply the new locale.

  13. Open an MES model-driven application content form and verify that the text is in the target language.
