Create performance tags on each PI Data Archive server

Use PI SMT to create the performance PI points on each Data Archive server. You may create a set of points on the primary server and then use PI Builder to create duplicate PI points for secondary servers.

For performance points, the critical parameters are: Tag, Descriptor, Exdesc, Location1, Location4, and Pointsource.

1. Open PI SMT on the primary server.

2. Under System Management Tools, select IT Points > Performance Counters.

3. Select the Build Tags tab.

4. In the counter list, expand PI Server Statistics and select the check boxes next to the PI points you want to add:

   • IsAvailable

   • IsCommunicating

   • IsInSync

   • LastSyncRecordID

5. Under Build Tags, select Write tags to CSV File.

6. Click Create Tags.

7. Specify the directory and file name for the spreadsheet, and click Save.

8. Open the spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.

9. Set the pointsource field to the value you set for the interface.

10. Create a copy of all the PI points for each secondary server.

11. Edit the copied points to create server-specific points.

    Check the Tag, Descriptor, Exdesc, Location1, Location4, and Pointsource fields.

12. Save the spreadsheet.
