Configure failback

Failback is enabled by default for PI AF Client 2018 and later only, and only with AF SDK client connections.

Note: Failback is not supported for PI SDK client connections.

1. Check the version of PI AF Client for your client application.

   • If your PI AF Client version is PI AF Client 2018 or later, proceed to the next step.

   • If your PI AF Client version is 2017 R2 or earlier, you must upgrade PI AF Client to version 2018 or later for your client application.

2. Specify connection preferences for AF SDK clients to configure the failback behavior you want for your client application.

3. If you set the connection preference to any (in scenarios where you want connection balancing between servers of the collective), set connection priority values for the client machine.
