Edit a collective configuration

You do not typically edit the configuration of an existing Data Archive collective, but it is possible to edit some collective member properties.
-
On all members, you can edit the Description property.
-
On secondary servers, you can edit the CommPeriod and SyncPeriod properties:
-
CommPeriod specifies the frequency (in seconds) that a secondary server checks it can communicate with the primary server.
-
SyncPeriod specifies the frequency (in seconds) that a secondary server checks and retrieves configuration updates.
-
A SyncPeriod value of zero indicates the secondary server never automatically checks and updates its configuration; you must force synchronization if you want to synchronize this server.
-
The following properties can be edited on all collective members, but we do not recommend that you edit them:
-
FQDN specifies the fully-qualified domain name or IP address of a member server that is used to connect to other servers in the collective.
-
ServerID specifies the GUID that represents the unique Data Archive identification of the member server.
Note: If you change the configuration of a primary server, temporarily disable automatic replication of these changes to secondary servers as described in Disable automatic synchronization. If necessary, you can manually synchronize collective members during this time by forcing synchronization as described in Force synchronization.
