Buffering and High Availability

Remove a secondary server from a collective

Review the buffering configuration at interfaces and servers and the host server specification at each interface to ensure that they do not refer to the server that you want to remove.

Use piartool to manually remove a secondary server from a Data Archive collective.

  1. Open a command prompt on the primary server.

  2. Navigate to the ..\PI\adm directory.

  3. Enter:

    piartool -sys -drop ServerName

where ServerName is the name of a secondary server you want to remove. If you specify a primary server, the command changes the server's role from primary server to non-replicated. (Note that to change the primary server's role to non-replicated, you must first put the server in stand-alone mode.)

  4. Clear the known servers table at each client connected to the collective.
