Use PI System Explorer to specify the connection priority value for all servers of the Data Archive collective. This numerical priority determines the order in which the AF SDK connects to the servers, with a lower number indicating a higher priority. For instance, setting a server’s priority to 1 makes it the top priority for connection attempts. By default, all of the Data Archive servers within the collective are assigned a priority of
-
Open PI System Explorer on the host computer where the client application is installed.
-
Navigate to File > Connections.
-
Right-click on the Data Archive collective and select Properties.
-
In the Collectives tab, assign a priority value to each server in the collective.
Note: A lower number means a higher priority. For example, 1 is the highest priority.
-
Click OK.
Note: Connection priorities are set for all AF SDK client applications on the host computer (a machine-specific setting). This is in contrast to connection preferences, which are set for the specific AF SDK client application (an application-specific setting). Therefore, you only need to set connection priority once on the client machine and it will apply to all AF SDK client applications running on the machine.
