Verify communication between collective members

You can use Collective Manager to verify that members of a collective are communicating and that replication is occurring. Ideally, you check the collective from a computer that does not run a Data Archive server in the collective. However, you can check the collective from the machine running the primary server.
To verify that a collective replicates configuration changes made at the primary server to all secondary servers, you can edit a point on the primary server and verify the change at the secondary servers in the collective.
-
Click Start > All Programs > PI System > Collective Manager.
-
Under Collectives, select the collective.
If the collective does not appear, you must enable communication between Collective Manager and the collective:
-
Select File > Connections.
-
Select the check box corresponding to the collective in PI Connection Manager.
If there is no check box for the collective, add the collective:
-
Select Server > Add Server.
-
In Network Node, enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the primary server in the collective.
-
Click OK.
-
-
Click Save to close PI Connection Manager.
-
-
Verify communication between collective members.
Collective Manager shows a diagram of collective members. An icon represents each server in the collective. A green check mark on the icon indicates that the server is communicating correctly. A red X indicates that the server is not communicating correctly.
-
If a server icon is not communicating correctly, you can:
-
Wait a few moments. Occasionally, the status of the secondary server will update at the next attempt to synchronize.
-
Try to reinitialize that server (select Edit > Reinitialize Secondary Server).
