Buffering and High Availability

Select servers or collectives

In Buffering Manager's Add Data Server Wizard window, you use the Server Selection pane to select Data Archive servers or collectives that will receive buffered data. If you do not see the server or collective you are looking for, you can add it.

  1. In the list, select one of the following:

    • PI ACE to configure buffering for PI ACE

    • PI Interface to configure buffering for any Microsoft Windows-based PI Interface (UNIX and Linux interfaces require API Buffer Server)

    • All Other Applications to configure buffering for anything other than PI ACE or a Microsoft Windows-based PI Interface

  2. Do one of the following:

    If you selected

    Then do this:

    Either PI ACE or All Other Applications

    Select one or more target servers, then click Next.

    If the target server isn't listed, click the Add a new server link. In the Computer name field, enter the hostname of the computer where the target Data Archive server resides. To add a collective, use the name of the primary server.

    PI Interface

    Click the Browse link and select the .BAT file for the interface. The target server identified in the .BAT file is displayed in the Server field.

    or

    Click in the Server field and type a server name.

  3. Click Next to configure security.
