If you create a primary server on a new target computer, you can simplify your tasks by giving the target computer the same name as the source computer. If the target computer has a different name, then you need to add the target computer to the Data Archive collective and promote that computer.
-
Perform all necessary preliminary steps.
-
Prepare the new Data Archive machine.
-
Generate a license activation file for the new machine. To see how many secondary servers are allowed with your license, check the licensing app in PI System Management Tools (PI SMT).
-
Install Data Archive software on the new machine.
-
-
Prepare the source Data Archive machine.
-
Force an archive shift.
-
Stop Data Archive.
-
-
Move files from the source Data Archive server to the target Data Archive server.
These files include current data files, queue files, and archive files.
-
Start the new Data Archive server.
