PI Buffer Writers group controls access to PI API Shared Memory objects; therefore, only users who will be using PI Buffer Subsystem to buffer PI API based application will need to be added to this group. PISDK or AFSDK based applications that use pibufss should not need access to this group.
-
For new installations of PI Buffer Subsystem, users for each application that intend to buffer data through PI Buffer Subsystem, must be added as a member of the group for each client application and interface.
-
For upgrades of PI Buffer Subsystem, all users for client applications and interfaces are members of this group by default. This default membership allows existing interfaces to continue to collect and buffer data even after the upgrade. However, for higher security measures, it is recommended to add the user for each application and interface that intends to buffer data as a member of this group. Once all applications and interfaces are accounted for, it is recommended to remove the Authenticated Users from the group membership.
