When you are buffering both PI API and PI SDK data (usually from both PI interfaces and PI clients), use PI Interface Configuration Utility (PI ICU) to change the server or collective receiving the buffered data.

  1. In PI ICU > Tools > Buffering, select Buffered Servers and then select a server or collective on the Buffering to collective/server list.

Note: Make sure the selection under Buffered Server Names (Path, Name, or IP address) uses the same format as the API Hostname specified for the interface. For example, if you use a path for API Hostname, you must also use a path (not a name or IP address) for Buffered Server Names.

  2. Click OK.

  3. When prompted, restart PI Buffer Subsystem and its dependent interfaces.

Verify that PI Buffer Subsystem is buffering data.
