Buffering and High Availability

Output points and interface failover

If you have a Data Archive collective, and Data Archive sends output points to the interface in your deployment, you can use interface failover to ensure the availability of the Data Archive server that provides output points.

Each interface receives output points from a specific Data Archive server or collective member. If that Data Archive server becomes unavailable, the interface will no longer receive output points.

However, you can configure each interface to receive output points from a different collective member. If you are using hot or warm failover and theData Archive server connected to the primary interface fails, the redundant interface takes over and will receive output points from its collective member and report time-series data to the collective. Note that Data Archive-induced failover only occurs if the redundant interface remains connected to the data source.
