Buffering and High Availability

PI to PI buffering

If buffering data with PI to PI in a Data Archive collective, use care not to send data back to the source server. By default, PI Buffer Subsystem uses N-way buffering to send data to all servers in a collective. Therefore, if the source server and target servers are in the same collective and you are using PI Buffer Subsystem, you must disable data copying to all collective members and explicitly select which servers you want sent the data.

Note: We recommend that you do not use PI Buffer Subsystem version 3.4.375.38 with PI to PI. This version does not support all archive write options and can lead to data loss. Instead, use a later version of PI Buffer Subsystem.

We also recommend against using both PI to PI and PI SDK buffering to replicate data between collective members. This may cause errors, duplicate events, or both.
