Description

Time range

Displays messages that occurred during a specified time period. In addition to preset time ranges such as last hour, last day, and so on, you can select Custom range to specify a relative or specific time range.

If you select Custom range and then choose the Relative time option, use the asterisk (*) to indicate "now" and subtract time accordingly. For example, to see messages from the past 30 minutes, select Custom range and specify From: * and To: *-30m.

You can also show past time ranges using the arrow buttons on the toolbar. For example, to show messages from one hour ago to now, select Last hour as the current Time range. Then click Previous () to show messages from the previous hour, that is, from two hours ago to one hour ago.

Severity

Displays messages by severity, for example, warning, error, or critical. Each severity level includes all levels above it. For example, to show both error and critical messages, select Error. To show messages of all severity levels, select Debug.

Program

Displays messages generated by the selected program. To display messages from all programs, select asterisk (*).

Message

Displays only messages that match a text filter you enter in the Message field.

Note: The asterisk (*) is a wildcard character you can use to represent any number of characters. You can also use a question mark (?) to represent a single character.

For example, to display all messages containing the word "connection", type *connection* in the Message field. To display all messages that start with the text "Starting PI process", type Starting PI process* in the Message field.

Source1

Displays only messages with the selected Source1 value. Source1 values are program-specific, and the Source1 field is not used by all programs or in all messages.

Source2

Displays only messages with the selected Source2 value. Source2 values are program-specific, and the Source2 field is not used by all programs or in all messages.
