Navigate the Performance Management use case

  1. Open the Supervisory (or Operator) console.

  2. Select the equipment of interest. The following example shows how to select equipment in the Operator console.

The Performance Management use case header.

  3. Select the Performance Management tab.

The equipment utilization event list and status bar for the selected equipment are displayed.

The Performance Management tab showing the utilization event state bar, event list, and use case details area.

Available properties in the utilization event list include:

    • Utilization state: The utilization status of the equipment for the utilization event.

By default, the standard MES configuration includes the utilization states RUNNING, DOWNTIME, and STOPPED. Additional utilization states can be added by configuring additional states in the MES product.

    • Start time: The event start time.

    • Duration: The utilization event duration.

    • Reason Description: Describes the current condition or behavior of equipment during the utilization event. It provides context for why the event occurred and is directly linked to a specific utilization state (e.g., RUNNING, DOWNTIME, STOPPED).

A utilization event refers to any impact on equipment that may or may not change its utilization state. Even if the state remains unchanged, the equipment’s behavior might still be affected—for example, operating at reduced speed.

Assigning a utilization reason to each event enables more detailed analysis of equipment performance. For instance, a downtime event might be explained by the reason “Emergency doors opened.”

Utilization reason groups and specific reasons are configured within the MES product.

    • Shift: The assigned shift when the event started.

  4. (Optional) To find the event of interest, filter the job list:

Select a filter period to view only events for a specific time interval.

    Filter by time interval.

Select specific column headers to filter the event list based on the column contents.

Filter by utilization event list column header.

  5. To select the utilization event you wish to perform use case details on, do one of the following:

    • Select an event in the Equipment Utilization Event list.
