The Raise Andon use case details.

Raise an Andon request

  1. From the Operator Console, select the Raise Andon task under the Command task type filter.

    The Raise Andon task.

  2. The Raise Andon use case detail opens.

  3. Select the Andon Type for the issue.

Andon types are predefined logical categories used to classify the requests. Each Andon type is linked to a specific role or user responsible for handling that category of issue. This ensures the alert is directed to the right person or team. The list of Andon types can be extended or reduced based on operational needs, allowing flexibility in how issues are classified and managed. Once an Andon type is selected, the operator can further define the issue by selecting a specific Andon Issue and Location, clarifying the nature and urgency of the request.

The following standard Andon types are available:

    The Production Andon type button.

    Production

Refers to any problem or disruption that affects the normal flow of manufacturing operations on the production floor. These issues typically require immediate attention to minimize downtime, maintain quality, and ensure safety. For example:

    • Equipment malfunction or breakdown

    • Material shortages or incorrect materials

    • Workflow interruptions or bottlenecks

    • Operator errors or missing instructions

    • Unexpected delays in job execution

    The Maintenance Andon type button.

    Maintenance

Refers to any problem that affects the functionality, reliability, or safety of equipment or infrastructure on the production floor and requires intervention from maintenance personnel. For example:

    • Equipment breakdowns or malfunctions

    • Preventive maintenance tasks that were missed or delayed

    • Wear and tear on machinery components

    • Leaks, overheating, or abnormal noises

    • Calibration or alignment problems

    The Safety Andon type button.

    Safety

    • Refers to any condition, event, or behavior in the manufacturing environment that poses a risk to the health, safety, or well-being of personnel, equipment, or the facility. These issues require immediate attention to prevent accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions. For example:

    • Slippery floors, blocked exits, or exposed wiring

    • Equipment operating without proper guards or safety interlocks

    • Chemical spills or hazardous material leaks

    • Missing or malfunctioning personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • Unsafe behaviors or violations of safety protocols

    The General Andon type button.

    General

Refers to any problem or concern that doesn’t clearly fall under the predefined categories like Production, Maintenance, Safety, or Quality—but still requires attention and resolution. For example:

    • Administrative or procedural questions

    • Communication breakdowns

    • Missing documentation or unclear instructions

    • System interface glitches not tied to equipment

    • Any other non-categorized disruptions affecting workflow

    The Quality Andon type button.

    Quality

Refers to any problem that affects the standard, consistency, or compliance of a product or process during manufacturing. These issues typically involve deviations from specifications, defects, or anything that could compromise customer satisfaction or regulatory requirements. For example:

    • Defective or non-conforming products

    • Incorrect measurements or tolerances

    • Contamination or foreign materials

    • Incomplete or missing documentation

    • Process deviations affecting product integrity

  4. Define the Andon issue details:

    • To specify where the issue occurred, select a preconfigured Location.

    • To specify the detailed description of the issue, select a preconfigured Andon issue.

    • (Optional) Add additional Notes.

  5. To initiate the Andon request, select Raise.

An Andon request with a status of NEW is immediately routed to the preconfigured recipient.
