Finalize / Undo finalize samples

Use the Finalize Sample and Undo Finalize Sample use case details to control whether a sample’s results can still be modified, helping to lock in or reopen data entry based on the sample’s lifecycle stage.

Finalize sample

Use the Finalize Sample use case detail to mark the sample as finalized. Once finalized, a sample is consider complete and no further edits can be made to its characteristic result records. This use case maintains traceability by logging the finalize action with a timestamp.

Finalize a sample

1. Select the Finalize Sample / Undo Finalize Sample panel button.

   Confirm the finalization time by selecting Finalize. The sample is immediately marked as Finalized.

Undo finalize sample

Use the Undo Finalize Sample use case details to clear the Finalized flag from the sample. Once cleared, further edits can be made to the sample's characteristic result records. This use case maintains traceability by logging the action with a timestamp.

2. Select the Finalize Sample / Undo Finalize Sample panel button.

   Confirm the finalization time by selecting Undo Final. The sample is immediately marked as not finalized.
