Open Drawings in AutoCAD

Notes: Before a drawing can be opened the drawing file must first be generated. Refer to Create or Update AutoCAD Drawings for details.

Opening a drawing does not update it. To update a drawing, for example if project data or preferences have changed, use the Update option. For further information, refer to Create or Update AutoCAD Drawings.

To open a drawing in AutoCAD

  1. Select it from the Drawings List or the Installation Detail Drawings List, and click Open on the List Tools - Drawings tab or on the List Tools - Hookup Drawings tab.

    Only one drawing can be opened using these options. If more than one drawing is selected, a message is displayed as follows:

    If the drawing file of the selected drawing has not been created (or is not in the project Drawings folder), the following message is displayed:

    If the drawing file exists, the following message is displayed while AutoCAD starts up:

    The drawing file is then opened.
