AVEVA™ Instrumentation

Import Catalog Instruments from another Project

Catalog instruments may be imported from another AVEVA Instrumentation Project in a multi-Project environment.

  1. With the Instrument Catalog open, click From Other Project in the Import section of the Manage tab to display the Select an AVEVA Instrumentation Project window.

  2. Using this window, select the Project from which the catalog instruments are to be imported.

After selecting the Project, the Instrument Catalog Import window is displayed, containing a list of all catalog instruments within that Project:

Note: To minimize the possibility that data currently being worked on by another User may be affected by an import, a list of the Users working on the current Project is available from the UserCount link. The number of current Users is displayed next to the link. This total includes the User performing the import.

  3. Click the Select checkbox for those catalog instruments that are to be imported. Click Select All if all are to be imported.

  4. Click Next >.

All the selected catalog instruments are then validated. If any of the catalog instruments are found to be invalid, they are listed in the next window, for example:

    Catalog instruments are invalid if:

    • They have the same name as a catalog instrument in the current Project (in other words, the Project being imported into). Catalog instrument names must be unique within a Project.

    • They are assigned to a datasheet that already exists in the current Project.

    • They are assigned to a datasheet with a form definition which does not exist in the current Project.

    • They are assigned to a datasheet with a form definition that does exist in the current Project, but which has different data mappings.

If all selected catalog instruments are valid or all are invalid, the window will display a message informing you of this.

  5. Click Import to proceed with the transfer of the valid catalog instruments. The button will be disabled if no valid catalog instruments are found.

The import Progress window is displayed:

As each catalog instrument is imported, it is added to the Instrument Catalog grid.

Once the import is complete, an import log listing the catalog instruments that have been successfully imported is displayed:

  6. Click Close to exit the import wizard.
