Thermowell Vibrations

Thermowells have been known to fail due to being excited by periodic forces caused by the flowing medium which have a frequency close to the resonance frequency of the thermowell.

Here we seek a formula that gives the natural frequency of the 1st mode of vibration of a tapered thermowell.
