Before files can be exported for AVEVA AIM, the export must be configured.

  1. From the Project tab, select Setup, then Publish to AIM Configuration. The AIM Export Configuration window is displayed:

  2. From the Name field, select the type of data export to AVEVA AIM to be configured (in the case of Process Engineer, Process Data is the only option).

  3. If a log file is to be generated for the export type, check the Log Enabled checkbox.

  4. The Log File field will then become enabled. In the field, specify the file name and the location of the log file (that is, a .txt file). Select ... to browse for the required folder.

  5. In the Staging Area field, specify the top level folder into which files are to be exported. Select ... to browse for the required folder.

If the Create Trigger File checkbox is checked, a trigger.start file (an empty text file) is created in the staging area folder for each file type. The purpose of the trigger.start file is to trigger the AVEVA AIM Portal’s import controller to automatically process all the files that reside in the same folder.

  6. If, for every object being exported, a separate output file is to be generated, check the Output File Per Object checkbox.

  7. To select mapping files for the export of data and specify other settings, click Settings. The Non-CAD Mapping Configuration window is displayed:

The mappings between Instrumentation data and AVEVA AIM Portal format data are stored in XML files, one for each of the types of mapping. For more information, see AVEVA Asset Information Management Export Configuration Files.

    • Class Mapping

  8. Select ... to browse for the required mapping file.

  9. Select the Open File function to open the selected file. It will open in the default text editor, for example Notepad.

If no file is specified in the field, a new, blank .txt file is opened. If you specify that a file that does not exist, you will be asked whether or not to create that file at the specified location. If Yes is selected, a new blank .txt file is created and opened for editing.

  10. To populate the fields with the default configuration and mapping files supplied with AVEVA Instrumentation, select Copy Sample Files.
