Navigation: Data > Assay Data > Data Sets

A data set is a pool or collection of crudes. For example, the User Crudes data set holds all user crudes created in Assay. Data sets replace Assay databases in legacy versions of Assay.

Two types of data sets are supported in Assay:

  • System data sets: System data sets divide the database into fixed collections of crudes. System data sets may be applied directly from any database component. Since system data sets in Assay are fixed, they can be neither created or deleted. However, the availability of system data sets can be controlled from the Data Sets List page.

  • User-defined data sets: User-defined data sets are created by the user from system data sets. User-defined data sets need to be configured separately , before being applied to database components.

To configure and manage user-defined data sets, or to manage the availability of system data sets, take either of the following actions:

  • Choose Data Sets from under Assay Data in the Data menu.

  • Click on () in any database component, to the right of the Data Set combo box.

Both actions take you to the Data Sets page. The Data Sets page shows two components:

  • The Data Sets component, from where you to create new user-defined data sets and manage existing user-defined data sets.

  • The System Data Sets component, which allows you to manage your system data sets.
