Forum alert subscriptions

Individual users subscribe to specific alert definitions. Administrators create these alert definitions, and then users can subscribe to the generated alerts, or can further filter the alerts to only receive notification of events which are of specific interest to them.

Overview

The Overview branch of the Forum Alert Subscription tree shows information about the cargo events you have subscribed to, along with settings you have applied. The different settings are defined using the other pages of the Default Subscription tree.

Subscribed Events

The Subscribed Events branch shows the different events available in Assay which it is possible for you to subscribe to. Select the check box next to event types you wish to receive alerts for. Events are defined by administrators, but further filters can be applied in order to only receive relevant event types.

Filters

The Filters branch allows further conditions to be included along with the Alert Definitions

The Filters branch allows you to configure under what circumstances alerts are sent to you when events are triggered. You can filter alerts so that you only receive notifications when events that meet particular criteria occur. It is possible to filter events based on:

• Traded Crude

• Refinery

• Loadport

• Disport

For example, you may subscribe to an event that alerts users if a cargo has an acidity above 1mgKOH/g. However you may only wish to receive these alerts for cargoes arriving at the Rotterdam refinery. You would define a filter for the Rotterdam refinery, and this would ensure you only received alerts for this location, and not for cargoes at other refineries.

If a filtering condition already has filters set for these items of Reference Data, the filters set here supplement, but do not add to, the conditions already set in base filter. For example, the base filter may have a refinery condition of Texas City and Rotterdam. You may apply an extra filter condition only for Texas City, so you only receive events that apply to Texas City, and not those for Rotterdam. It is not possible to add a new location, for example Cherry Point, and receive notifications for this because it is not in the original set of conditions.

Two settings are available for filtering:

• All event categories - you receive alerts for all events that match your subscriptions

• Only the following - you receive alerts for the events that match your subscriptions and the events match at least one of the filtering conditions you have defined.

To define the filtering condition, select the icon next to the type of category you wish to filter. This will open a Selector for the item type you wish to filter on. For example if you select the icon next to Refineries it will open the Refinery Selector allowing you to search for and select the refinery locations you require.

Notifications

The Notifications branch allows you to configure how you would like to be alerted

When an event occurs that matches your subscriptions and filtering criteria, you can be alerted in several ways. The Notifications branch allows you to define how you are informed about related events.

The Notification Channel option allows you to select how you will be notified. The options are:

• Assay Alert - an alert is posted in the Alert List page within Assay.

• Assay Alert and Email - an alert is posted in the Alert List in Assay, and an email is sent to your registered email address.

It is possible to change when alerts are dispatched by Assay using the Send option:

• Immediately - the alert is posted immediately when it occurs

• Minutely - all alerts that occur within a one minute period are grouped and posted together

• Hourly - all alerts that occur within a one hour period are grouped and posted together

• Daily - all alerts that occur within a one day period are grouped and posted together

• Weekly - all alerts that occur within a one week period are grouped and posted together

• Monthly - all alerts that occur within a one month period are grouped and posted together
