System data sets

System data sets partition the database into collections of like or homogeneous crudes. Every crude in the database must belong to a data set; and any given crude can belong to one, and only one, data set.

A default installation of Assay comes with several system data sets. The following table lists these data sets.

Description

System repositories

System repositories, such as the Spiral HPI database, are standard collections of crudes in Assay.

User Crudes

Crudes in the database created using the Assay generation tools. Note that any user crude components that were on your Home page have been removed. You can view your user crudes by applying the User Crudes data set.

The selection of system data sets in Assay is fixed: System data sets themselves can be neither added to nor deleted from the application.

In general, you cannot add crudes to or delete crudes from system data sets. The exception is the User Crudes system data set; you can freely add and remove crudes generated using the Assay generation tools.
