Paste multiple cuts

You can paste several cuts into a CAG grid from an external document, such as a text file or an Excel flowsheet. The cut names must be on the same row, separated by an empty cell when in Excel, or by two tab characters when in a text file.

To paste the cuts into the CAG grid, follow these steps:

1. In the external document, copy the cut names to the clipboard

2. In the CAG grid, right-click a column header, then select Paste from the menu

   The cut in the current column is replaced, and Assay adds as many more columns as needed to paste all the cuts. Cut names are checked according to the following rules:

   • If a flowsheet is selected for the CAG, compare the pasted value with the stream names and use a matching stream if found.

   • Compare the pasted value to standard cut name and use a matching cut if found.

3. Compare the pasted value to the pattern {start} to {end} {unit} (for example, IBP to 70 C). If the pattern is matched, create a custom cut accordingly.

   Note: If all of the above fails, leave the cut blank.

4. A cut can have an associated minimum yield. If the yield of the cut is below the minimum, all the property criteria for that cut are ignored.

5. You enter a minimum yield in the same pane you use to define the cut. Select the Min yield check box, then enter the yield value, weight/volume basis and unit of measure.

   

6. When a minimum yield is defined for a cut, it is shown in the cut column header.

7. Each criterion must have an associated property which is defined in the Properties column. A single property may have many different criteria associated with it.

8. To define the property associated with a criterion click the add button at the bottom of the criteria grid. Alternatively, right-click the first cell of a row (the one showing a number) and select either Insert Property Before or Insert Property After from the context menu.

   This adds a new row to the grid representing the property associated with the criterion.

   

9. Use the dropdown menu to select the required property; some properties require extra information to define them

10. To define the new property, double-click the empty row and select the required property from the list. If necessary, enter any other required parameters that define the property, such as measurement temperature or percentage recovery.
