Add your CAG criteria

To complete the definition of a CAG, you must define a number of criteria. A criterion is a condition on a given property-stream combination. For example, a criterion might consist of the condition that whole crude density should be < 0.8 g/cc.

Each criterion must have the following information:

• An associated stream, such as whole crude, or a cut between 15-85°C

• An associated property, such as weight based yield

• At least one minimum and maximum warning or rejected value

To define the criteria of your CAGs, perform the following steps.

1. Add cuts.

2. To define the cut associated with a criterion, click the add button to the right of the criteria grid. Alternatively, right-click on the first cell of a column (the one showing a letter) and choose either Insert Stream Before or Insert Stream After from the context menu.

   This adds a new column to the grid representing the stream associated with the criterion.

   

Three types of cut are available:

• Standard - the stream is selected from one of the standard cuts registered in Assay

• Custom - initial and final cut points for the stream are entered

• Flowsheet - a stream defined in a flowsheet available in Assay.

You can use the standard cuts configured in Assay as the stream, or alternatively define a custom cut or flowsheet cut. To change between cut types:

• Double-click the column header with the name of the cut you want to change.

• Choose Standard, Custom or Flowsheet from the Type dropdown list.

For the Flowsheet option to be available, you must have selected a flowsheet from the Flowsheet dropdown list.

When using a standard cut, you must select which standard cut to associate with the stream. To select the standard cut, make sure Standard is selected as the cut type and select the required standard cut from the Cut dropdown list.

When using a custom cut, you must enter the cut points associated with the cut. To enter the cut points, make sure Custom is selected as the cut type and double-click the default cut points in the stream header. Then enter the start and end points for the cut and select the temperature unit.

When using a flowsheet cut, you must select the name of the flowsheet product which defines the stream. To select the flowsheet stream, perform the following steps:

3. Make sure the required flowsheet is selected in the Flowsheet menu.

4. Ensure Flowsheet is selected as the cut type.

5. Select the required distillation unit from the dropdown menu on the Stream row.

6. Select the required stream from the drop-down menu on the Stream row.
