The Nearness field allows you to configure a column to show a bar whose length and shading corresponds to the similarity of each crude in a database component to a reference crude. The longer and deeper the colour, the more similar the reference crude is to the database crude.
To configure a nearness column, you must first prime Assay with a set of reference crudes. If Assay is not provided with a set of reference crudes, you cannot configure a nearness column.
Once a set of reference crudes has been configured, you can select the reference crude for a Nearness-type column by choosing a crude from the Crude combo box.
In addition, you can set the type of Nearness measure using the Type radio buttons. The following tables lists the currently supported measures.
|
Overall |
A measure which takes into account all the properties of the crudes when comparing them. |
|
Yield |
A measure which takes account only of the yield distribution. |
The default Nearness measure is Overall.
