You can use BlendAnalysis for both blend determination and targeted blending.

Description |
Example |
|
Blend Determination |
To determine the proportions of known crudes in a blend of crudes, given limited measurement data for the blend. |
Determining the amounts of each of a set of known crudes mixed in a refinery storage tank. |
|
Targeted Blending |
To find the proportions required to create a blend with particular properties from known constituent crudes. |
Determining acceptable limits of crudes in a mixture that is to be fed through a pipeline, given particular viscosity constraints. |
BlendAnalysis assumes perfect mixing of the crudes in the blend. Since it is quite common for the crudes in a blend in a storage tank to become stratified, you should use BlendAnalysis only when there is good mixing in the tank, and when the measurements of a sample can be considered to be a reliable guide to the mixed contents of the tank.
