BlendExplorer allows you to blend a set of test crudes, one by one, to a base blend. The quality of this blend of test + base is compared to a set of criteria.
You can use the Blend Explorer module for two workflows.

Description |
|
Crude Approval Grid |
The blend of test + base crude is compared to a crude approval grid, which defines the allowed property ranges for the final blend and its cuts. |
|
Look-alike |
The blend of test + base crude is compared to see if it has similar properties to another database crude, and therefore 'looks-alike'. For each property, the test passes if the values are within a particular tolerance. |
You can access the Blend Explorer module by navigating to Tools > Blending > BlendExplorer Cases.

The BlendExplorer Cases page shows the list of available BlendExplorer cases and allows new cases to be created. This list can be filtered to find specific cases.
To create a new BlendExplorer case, follow these steps:
-
Click the add (
) icon in the upper-right corner of the case list.
-
In the pop-up window that appears, select either Crude Approval Grid and Look-alike.
