Refinery profiling

From the Refinery page, it is possible to profile the refinery with a particular crude to identify any potential processing problems. To profile a refinery select the name of the crude you wish to run through the refinery and select Simulate. You must have already generated the Netback case for this option to be available.

If any of the unit capacities are being exceeded, or if the unit is underutilised, the unit will be shaded in red. For more information on the problem hover the mouse cursor over the unit.

After profiling units whose capacities are exceeded are highlighted in red and extra information provided by the tooltip

Unit Capacities

For each process unit it is possible to set minimum and maximum limits for the capacity. The different types of limit are:

  • Min Capacity - the minimum processing capacity which must be exceeded.

  • Max Capacity - the maximum processing capacity of the unit which cannot be exceeded. Excess input is diverted to another stream without being processed.

  • Max Unprocessed - the maximum amount of input fluid which is not processed and diverted to another stream.

Select the check box next to each Min Capacity or Max Unprocessed value to enable the limit. Clear the check box next to a unit name to remove the unit from the refinery schematic. When you do so, the corresponding row is greyed out.
