Enter Property Measurements
Enter the set of measurements of the measured blend (for blend determination), or the required property constraints (for targeted blending) in the Property Measurements table.

Choose the Property for which you want to add a measurement, and enter the Start and End points of the cut. You can use the special values IBP and FBP to denote the initial and final boiling points for a cut. Finally, enter the Value for the measurement.
If you want to exclude a measurement from the generation, clear the corresponding check box in the Active column.
Select the Update button to add more rows to the measurements table. It is not possible to remove rows from the table, but you can clear check boxes in the Active column to exclude measurements.
You can also paste data from a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel. The data must be configured in exactly the same way as required by the property grid. The property names in the spreadsheet must exactly match the property names used in Assay. The property name, start cut point, end cut point and measurement value must be entered in separate columns in the spreadsheet.

Add Crudes
Add crudes using the crude selector component at the bottom of the page.

To remove any entry in the list, click the remove () icon next to the name of the relevant crude.
By default, crudes added to the list have their initial blend ratio set to one. To add crudes with their initial blend ratio set to zero, select the Add new Crudes with zero initial blend ratio check box, then select the Update button.

Configure Crudes
It is often the case that the problem you are trying to solve has multiple possible solutions. For example, given one API measurement, and multiple constituent crudes, there may be many possible ways to blend these constituents to give the measured API value. If you already know approximately what the start ratios are, you can enter them in the Start Ratio column, allowing the BlendAnalysis tool to resolve any ambiguities in the case of multiple solutions.
In some cases, you may know that there is definitely not more than (or less than) a given percentage of a particular crude in the blend you are analysing. You can impose these constraints by specifying maximum and minimum limits, in either weight or volume proportion, in the Min. (%) and Max. (%) columns. Any solutions found by the BlendAnalysis module are consistent with these constraints.
If you enter mutually incompatible constraints (for example, a minimum of more than 50% for two or more crudes) the generation fails.

Select Blend Basis
The start ratio, together with the minimum and the maximum values you enter, may be in either weight or volume proportions. Set the Blend Ratio Basis option button option accordingly.

Select the Generate button in the Settings pane on the right-hand side of the page. The crude is generated and you are taken to the post-generation page. Note that generation may take several minutes.
