Alert definitions

Alert definitions are generally set up by administrators and define the overall types of event that cause an alert to be generated. Individual users then subscribe to the alerts they are interested in.

An administrator might choose to define an alert for when cargoes of high TAN crude are received. They can create an alert definition that triggers an alert every time a cargo with a TAN above 0.7 mgKOH/g is entered into Assay. A user can then choose to subscribe to this alert, but they may not want to know about all high TAN crudes, so they subscribe to the alert, but filter it so they only receive alerts about high TAN crudes received at a particular refinery.
