Create the new step filter
To create a new filter, select the edit (
) icon to the right of Filter, and take one of the following actions:

Click the add (
) icon. This allows you to create a named filter by adding conditions to a new, blank
filter template. The conditions you add can be combined to create the final filter.

Click the copy (
) icon next to an existing filter. This allows you to create a new filter by editing
the conditions of your chosen filter. Note that you may copy shared filters as well
as your own filters.

Enter a name and description for the new filter in the Overview tab of the Configure Filters dialog.

Add filter conditions

A filter must have at least one condition. Set up the first condition using the step at the top of the tree. The condition can be based on measured cargo property data, such as the cargo API or sulphur, or can use reference information such as the type of traded crude or disport for the cargo.

Each condition evaluates as true or false depending on whether it meets or fails the configured condition. Decide how you want the filter to be evaluated, whether you wish results for assays that meet the condition or assays that fail.
The following table provides a list of operators you can use.

Match if the text that is entered for the filtering condition is different.
LIKE
Match the item if the text occurs anywhere in the field named in the first drop down box.
NOT LIKE
Match the item if the text does not occur anywhere in the field named in the first drop down box.
The final component of the matches filter condition is a text box, into which you enter your filtering text.

If you want to find cargoes with high acidity (above 0.5 mgKOH/g) you could set up a filter for measured acidity greater than 0.5 mgKOH/g and match crudes that evaluated as true for this condition. Conversely you could set up a filter for assays that have an acidity less than 0.5 mgKOH/g and match crudes that evaluated false for this condition.

To add further conditions to the tree, set the required true or false evaluation to Match, and configure the next condition. This subsequent condition then obtains a true or false result, which can be further chained to create more conditions.

When all the conditions have been included, define the final matching conditions by setting a branch to Match and then selecting the check box. A tree may have more than one Match condition, so any assays which meet one or more of the Match conditions is returned by the filter.

After setting up the filter, select OK to close the Configure Filters dialog and evaluate the filter conditions. The list updates with only those items that match the defined filtering conditions.

To remove the filter from the List View, select a different filter name from the filter menu dropdown in the List View.
