Create new Netback cases

Take the following actions to create a new Netback case:

1. Select the Add icon in the Netback Case List.

2. Enter a name and description for the Netback Case

   

   You must create Netback items when creating a Netback case

3. Select the component Netback items by clicking Settings then navigating to the relevant page.

The following Netback items can be created:

• Refinery - a model of the process units in the refinery and their capacities

• Operational Mode - the cut points of the streams produced through distillation

• Refinery Model - the model used to define the conversions in process units

• Product Specifications - the final product specifications for products of the refinery

• Blending Matrix - the individual refinery streams which may be pooled to produce final product

• Yield constraints - the minimum and maximum amounts of final refinery products

• Feedstock Settings - any materials purchased by the refinery for blending, their cost and properties

• Product Pricing - the selling price of refinery products and purchase price of utilities

• Crude pricing - the price of the crude oils processed in the refinery

• Crude freight - the cost of transport of each oil to the refinery.

Overview

The Overview page shows details about the Netback case and data source

The Overview page displays information about the Netback case currently being worked on. The name of the case can be edited, along with the description of the case.

To share the case with colleagues, select the location you wish to share the case using the Shares dropdown menu. Other Assay users with access to these shares will be able to view and use the Netback Case but will not be able to make any changes.

Settings

The Settings page allows the different parts that make up a Netback case to be selected:

• Refinery - a description of the process units and capacities in the refinery.

• Operational Mode - the cut points of the streams produced through distillation.

• Refinery Model - the model used to define the conversions in process units.

• Product Specifications - the constraints for different final product grades produced by the refinery. See Product specifications.

• Blending Matrix - a map of the possible pooling of streams into final products. See Blending matrix Blending matrix.

• Yield constraints - any constraints on product yields which are present for the refinery. See Yield constraints Yield constraints.

• Feedstocks - any materials purchased by the refinery for blending, their cost and properties.

• Product pricing - the final value of the different products produced by the refinery and the cost of purchased feedstocks. See Product pricing.

• Crude pricing - the cost of the feedstock crudes. See Crude pricing.

• Crude freight - the cost of shipping for the feed crudes. See Add crude freight.

Each different configuration type has different settings which must be set up before the configuration can be used.

Refinery

The Refinery page shows a Create refinery schematics of the refinery configuration. Each of the process units included in the refinery model is shown, along with the connections between units and the product streams. Units not included in the refinery schematic are shown in grey and not used in Netback calculations.
