  1. Overview

The Name and Description for the case are edited using the Overview page. The Overview page also allows the location where the case is shared to be edited, along with review of any items such as flowsheets that the case is dependent upon.

  2. Diagnostics

The Diagnostics page shows errors and warnings about the Case. Errors must be corrected before generation or saving. Warnings should be reviewed to ensure they do not interfere with generation.

  3. Crudes

The Crudes page allows the crudes to be analysed using BlendExplorer to be configured. This page is the same as in the CAG case. See Crudes.

  4. Specification

The Specifications page is used to define the amount that properties can vary between the blend and comparison crude. Look-alike blending compares the blend of Test + Base Blend to a single comparison crude, using a set of user-defined cut properties. For each cut property the property value for the blend is compared with the comparison crude; if the property value is within the entered tolerance for that property, then for that property the blend and comparison are look-a-likes. If all the properties are within the tolerance then they are look-a-like crudes.

    To add a new specification:

    • Select the magnifier () icon and use the Crude Selector to select the reference assay the blend should be compared to

    • Select add () to add a new property

    • Select the required property from the list of available properties

    • Select the unit of measure (UoM) to compare the property

    • Select the Cut to compare the property on

    • Enter the Tolerance that the property value for the blend and reference should be allowed to differ by and still be considered to look-alike (be similar) for this comparison.

  5. Results

The Results page shows whether each blend of Test + Base is within all the property specification tolerances. If the blend is within all the tolerances, the blend is returned with a green cell.
