Navigation: To configure a view, except for an assay view, click on the configure views () icon in a list component, to the right of the View combo box.

A view is a particular set of columns associated with list items. You specify what order the various columns should be in, and what heading should appear at the top.

Create a view

  1. Select the configure view () icon next to the Views list to open the Configure Views dialog, then use either of the following methods to create a new view:

    1. Click the add () icon. This allows you to create a named View by adding columns to a new, blank View template.

    2. Click the copy () icon next to an existing View. This allows you to create a new View by editing the conditions of your chosen View. Note that you may copy shared Views as well as your own Views.

  2. On the Overview tab, enter a name and a description for the view.

  3. (Optional) To make the view available for others to use, select a share option from the Share dropdown list.

  4. Select Apply to save any changes to the view filter without closing the Configure Views dialog.

Add required columns of information to the view

The Columns tab shows the columns currently present in the view, and allows columns to be added, removed or the order of display to be changed. The type of columns available depends on the component in which you are configuring the View.

  1. To add columns to the view, select the add () icon, and then select a required field from the Field dropdown list.

    The heading automatically updatse with the name of the field selected, but can be manually changed by entering the correct text in Heading.

  2. Use the following icons to add, remove or reorder columns in a view:

    - adds a new column to the current View

    - removes the selected column from the View

    - moves the selected column up in the order

    - moves the selected column down in the order.

  3. When you are done configuring the new view, select OK to save your changes and close the Configure Views dialog.

  4. Select Apply to save your changes without closing the dialog. This allows you to start working on another view straight away.
