Configuring a New Simulation

Simulations are arranged in hierarchical order. The top level of the hierarchy is SIM4ME. In descending order, the levels below SIM4ME are Simulation, Flowsheet, Object, and Parameter. SIM4ME can have one or more simulations. A simulation is composed of one or more flowsheets. A flowsheet includes one or more objects. Example: pumps, or valves.

To create a new Custom Simulation in the database:

1. On the main window, click the File menu, select New and then select Custom Simulation. The Simulation Configuration window appears.

   

2. Enter "FirstSim" in the Simulation Name field.

3. Click Create.

4. In the Engines panel from the previous image, click the Add button to display the New Engine dialog box.

   

5. Choose DynSim-L from the Engine Type drop-down list.

6. Enter an engine name. Example: "DynSimL.".

7. Click Create.

8. In the Engines window, click the Add button to display the New Engine dialog box.

9. Enter the name of your SCP machine in the Engine Host field and press Enter.

10. Choose SCPEngine from the Engine Type drop-down list.

11. Enter a name for the engine. Example: "SCP".

    

12. Click Create.

13. In the Flowsheets frame, click the Add button.

    

14. Enter a name –in the Flowsheet Name field. Example: "FS1".

15. Click Create.

16. At the top of the Instances Tree a flow sheet is created with the name FS1.

    

17. Click Close.
