FAIM Engine and the DSS Infrastructure

The DSS infrastructure employs a network capability to facilitate fast data transfer. This infrastructure requires that each machine can resolve the computer name and IP address quickly.
The DSS infrastructure for each computer hosting an engine must be manually set to point to a single Simulation Executive Host computer. This procedure is available in Advanced Installation Options section of the "Getting Started with Dynsim" document or the DYNSIM Activation Manager / SCP Application section of the SCP Getting Started Guide.
Executing this procedure is required for the machine hosting any machine hosting a FAIM or SimSync Engine.
The SCP Engine performs special communications with every FAIM and SimSync Engine in the simulator system. Therefore, the SCP machine(s) must have listed in its hosts file the name and IP address of every machine with a FAIM or SimSync Engine. These would typically be AWs and WPs (or their Foxboro Evo equivalents). The IP address chosen during the "Set Interface" option performed on the AW / WP is the IP address that should appear in the hosts file of the machine(s) with SCP Engine(s).
