The FAIM engine is an engine within the simulation environment and represents a named AIM*Historian instance. Example: hist01.
To emulate an AIM*Historian instance, it is first necessary to add an instance of the FAIM engine to the simulation.
To add a FAIM engine to the simulation:
-
In the DYNSIM GUI, click the File menu, select New, and then select Engines and Flowsheets.

-
In the Engines frame, click the Add button to display the New Engine dialog box.

-
Enter the name of your CP Host (WSTA70, WSVR70) in the Engine Host field and press Enter.
-
Select FAIM from the Engine Type drop-down list.
-
Enter an engine name in the Engine Name field. Example: "FAIM".
-
Click Create to create the FAIM engine.
-
In the Simulation Configuration window, select the newly added FAIM engine, and click the Edit button.

-
Each FAIM Historian instance requires a unique historian logical name, and this name must match the name of the historian in the configuration file that is loaded into the FAIM engine. For this tutorial, enter "hist99" as the Historian Logical Name.
-
Click OK to close the Engine Configuration window.
-
Click Close to exit the Simulation Configuration window. After adding the FAIM engine, load the simulation to start the FAIM engine.
-
Click the Start button
in the DYNSIM GUI to load the simulation, including the newly added FAIM engine.
-
As there is no configuration for this FAIM Historian instance, an error message appears.

-
Before running the simulation, download the configuration into the FAIM historian instance (next section).
