AVEVA™ Simulation for Foxboro Control

Snapshot Update after Controls Change

  • Last UpdatedApr 20, 2020
  • 2 minute read

After controls are modified, ensure that the update appears in FoxView and functions as expected and verify that the SCP has been checkpointed. When restoring a snapshot saved before the update, SCP will keep the new, updated checkpoint file, but populate the dynamic data, or the connectable and settable parameters with values from the snapshot. The user should re-save the snapshot when satisfied that it functions as desired.

Unlike former product features, the snapshot update feature does not depend on a specific DYNSIM or Foxboro Evo version. You can update snapshots from SCP v1 to future SCP versions. Moving to a different hardware suite that might contain different computer names will not impact snapshot restore.

Note 1 – CALC / CALCA / MATH / LOGIC parameters

A limitation for CALC / CALCA / MATH / LOGIC related control parameters.

The memory (M01 to M24) parameters can be edited in the configurator and can be set during run time operation. In this case, the update will copy the memory values from the original snapshot to the target snapshot because changes made in the configurator are lost. Two workarounds exist:

  • Restore each snapshot, manually change the value directly in the Detail Display, and resave each snapshot.

  • Save the snapshot as a text file and edit it.

Note 2 – Connectable and Settable Parameters

Connectable and Settable Parameters. SCP saves only dynamic values in the snapshot. SCP considers a value to be dynamic if its parameter is defined as "connectable and settable" – regardless of whether or not it is connected. For more details about the Connectable/Settable parameters of a block, refer to the Integrated Control Block Descriptions Vol. 1-3 (B0193AX) and for each block open the Parameters Section Table’s Accessibility column.
