AVEVA™ Simulation for Foxboro Control

Installing SCP on Foxboro FoxView HMI machine

  • Last UpdatedMar 23, 2020
  • 5 minute read

For OTS applications, SCP software needs to be installed on every Foxboro FoxView installed computer for alarms and time control in FoxView to work properly. For DCS/PAS checkout applications, where the Foxboro installed computers will eventually be staged in the actual DCS control room, do not install SCP software.

Prior to installing SCP, verify the following:

  • You have reviewed the section Minimum System Requirements and ensured that this machine meets the hardware and Multicore requirements

  • You have reviewed the section Prerequisites and, if required, installed KB3033929

  • This machine is connected to the FECN (formerly MESH) network

  • You have reviewed the section Software Overview for Typical System Configurations and identified your configuration

  • You have reviewed the section Foxboro Evo Software Installation Overview and its flowchart

  • You have reviewed the section Foxboro Evo Software Pre-Installation

  • You have reviewed the section Installation Order by Workstation Type, installed all of the correct versions of Control Core Services and FoxView for this machine, and are ready to install SCP

  • This machine is disconnected from the company LAN and the internet

  • You have disabled I/A Series

The following steps describe the installation of SCP.

  1. If the I/A Series processes are running, complete this step, otherwise continue to step two:

    1. Open the Windows Control Panel.

    2. Double-click I/A Series Startup Options

    3. Click Yes to "Run as Administrator"

    4. In the Startup Options for Reboot, click the Autologon radio button in the I/A Series Off group.

    5. Click OK.

    6. Reboot the computer.

  2. Navigate to the CDROM, right click on setup.exe and choose Run as Administrator.

If either of the prerequisites (Visual Studio 2013 C++ redistributable, or Microsoft .NET 4.5.1) is not already installed, the installer will proceed to install either or both as necessary.

  3. If Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 is not present, the setup will now install it. Click Accept to install.

  4. If Visual C++ Runtime libraries are not found, click Install when asked.

  5. The installer displays progress bars during installation. Click Finish when complete.

  6. The Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 install for (x86) and (x64) proceeds and completes.

  7. Once the .NET installation completes, the SCP software setup window appears.

  8. Important: SCP 3.1 does not support any version of FoxView prior to 10.5.1. If FoxView 10.5.0 or 10.4.4 (or prior) is installed, then SCP 3.1 will not install the FoxView simulation update. Click OK to acknowledge the message and then click CANCEL to cancel the SCP installation. Correct the version of FoxView and rerun the SCP installer.

  9. When the SCP Setup Wizard appears, if the system detects a Microsoft KB is missing, the user is prompted to Cancel the installation and install the KB. Only click OK if you are certain the patch is installed, which may be the case if Microsoft rolled up the fix in a subsequent KB. When attempting to install the KB, Microsoft will notify the user if the underlying update already exists.

  12. Check the I accept the terms in the License Agreement box. Click Next to accept the EULA.

  13. The following features are installed by default.

    • AMS simulation enhancements (makes Alarm Manager System compatible with SCP)

    • FoxView simulation enhancements (makes FoxView compatible with SCP)

    • FAIM Historian Simulation (includes FAIM components for historization)

    • SimSync Engine (time keeper for simulation)

  14. In the Ready to Install SimSci SCP screen, click Install.

  15. When the installer’s progress bar disappears, click Next.

Note: On the CP Host computer, only FAIM, SimSync, AMS simulation updates, and FoxView simulation enhancements are installed. SCP-related components (SCP Apps and SCP Engine) are not installed. Also see Appendix A: Single Box Solution.

  16. Click Finish to complete the installation.

  17. Once the Installation is complete and all reboots associated with the installation are complete, then enable the I/A Series Autologon.

    1. Open the Windows Control Panel.

    2. Double-click I/A Series Startup Options.

    3. Click Yes to Run as Administrator.

    4. In the I/A Series Startup Options, click the Autologon radio button in the I/A Series On group.

    5. Click OK.

    6. Reboot the computer.

  18. Proceed to Post Installation Steps.
