SCP Launcher

The SCP Launcher is a graphical user interface (GUI) that manages SCP instances.

The SCP Launcher is divided into the following areas:

  • Toolbar,

  • SCP Configured System dropdown with Add New Simulation button,

  • Table of SCPs for the selected system.

The SCP Launcher allows the user to create a one or more SCP Configured Systems and save each configuration to a permanent location (as an .xml file).

The SCP Launcher provides the following SCP operations: Start, Shutdown, and Reboot. The SCP Launcher also provides the following SCP start options: Fast Load, Local Checkpoint, Show Windows, and Logging. Each of these operations and options are described in detail in the following sections.

The SCP Launcher allows the user to manipulate more than one SCP at a time. Select multiple SCPs by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on each desired line. Select a contiguous block of SCPs by click the top CP, holding down the SHIFT key and clicking the bottom CP.

Shown below is the SCP Launcher with the SCP Configured System (SCP). The available CPs for that system are displayed in the bottom section of the SCP Launcher GUI.

The Export button exports the list of selected SCPs and creates a batch file under a custom path. Using this batch file, the list of SCPs can be launched even without SCP Launcher GUI. See "Creating a Batch file to Start Multiple SCPs" below for more information.

The Delete button deletes the local checkpoint file of the selected SCP(s), which must be in Shutdown or Available state. The checkpoint file is available at the following path:

C:\Users\<User>\Documents\SimSci\SCP\<SCPName>.

This will force the SCP to download the remote checkpoint file (if the Local Checkpoint option is ON) next time SCP launches. See "Delete Local Checkpoint" below for more information.

The Fast Load slider sets the Fast Load option. By default, this option is ON when SCP is installed. When the Fast Load is off, OM Reset will occur automatically after SCP start. When the Fast Load is on, OM Reset will not occur automatically after SCP start. See "SCP Instance Options" below for more information.

The Local Checkpoint slider sets the Local Checkpoint option. By default, this option is ON when SCP is installed. When the Local Checkpoint is off, the SCP application will use the CP host checkpoint file and remove the local checkpoint file. When the Local Checkpoint is on, the SCP application will use a local checkpoint file. See "SCP Instance Options" below for more information.
