Now we can operate the flowsheet because the cross-reference database has been created, tied off to the model objects, and loaded into the simulation. The tank level control valve is already controlling the level in the tank. We will step through starting the pump (motor) and opening the discharge valve. The CALC block, MOTOR_CTRL, has two optional inputs that can be linked to display buttons or toggled by hand. BI03 acts as a start command and BI04 acts as a stop command.

Note: Before proceeding, refer to the SCP Installation Guide for procedures to make the .FDF graphic files from SCP available to the CP Host machine. Copy the files to the appropriate path to view the graphic.

  1. Verify that the simulation is running.

  2. On the Tank Level Control flowsheet graphic place the pump in Remote.

  3. On the AW, through the FoxView interface on the WSTA, view the demo graphic. Select Disp/SCP_demo/demo.

  4. When in REMOTE, the pump is started through the Foxboro controls. Start the motor by pressing the START button through FoxSelect.

  5. Set the discharge valve position to 50% using the demo graphic.

  6. Run the simulation until the tank level stabilizes, and save a snapshot.
