AVEVA™ Simulation for Foxboro Control

Building a Simple Tieback Model

  • Last UpdatedMar 10, 2020
  • 1 minute read

A simple tieback model connects simple model objects, such as points, motors, valves, and leadlag blocks to the I/O from a control system. The purpose is to validate simple control loops, graphics, and basic PAS configuration.

This tutorial explains construction and operation of the simple tieback model in four steps:

  • Creating model objects such as latch and lead/lag blocks

  • Parameterizing the simulation objects with physical quantities

  • Connecting the simulation objects

  • Operating the flowsheet

  • Building custom indicators and widgets as necessary to allow the user to interact with the flowsheet

If you have not already done so, complete the Getting Started tutorial. That tutorial has conceptual information that you need to understand before performing this tutorial.

This tutorial makes the following assumptions:

  • The DYNSIM user interface is displayed

  • The Simulation "FirstSim" exists in the database and is the current simulation open
