Creating a VM

This section describes how to create an SCP virtual machine using Hyper-V Hypervisor. The steps generally match those of a standard I/A Series system as shown in the I/A Series Virtualization User’s Guide (B0700VM), except, only a single MESH network is configured in the last step.
IMPORTANT: The SCP launcher software should not be installed on an I/A Series installed system because the launcher requires multi-core enablement, while I/A Series software requires single-core enablement.
-
Open Hyper-V Manager from Administrator Tools by clicking Start and then clicking Administrative Tools > Hyper-V Manager.
-
In the Actions panel on the right, click New and select Virtual Machine.

IMPORTANT: If you are using physical hardware for your I/A Server, or the I/A Server is a VM on another physical machine, you will have to follow the instructions in Configuring Physical I/A Series MESH Connection to SCP VMs to set up the network connections prior to creating a VM or installing SCP. This type of configuration will require the use of a physical switch to connect the machines.
-
On the Before You Begin screen, click Next.

-
On the Specify Name and Location screen:
-
In the Name field, enter a name for the virtual machine.
-
In the Location field, enter a location where the VM will be stored.

-
-
Click Next.
-
On the Assign Memory screen, enter 4096, and then click Next.

-
In the Connection field of the Configure Networking screen, select the network for the VM and then click Next. (Use the DCS ACN Network during installation.)

Note: Additional network connections are required for use with I/A Series software. These details are covered in section "Configuring Virtual Machine Behavior During the Host System Startup and Shutdown" in the I/A Series Virtualization User’s Guide (B0700VM).
-
On the Connect Virtual Hard Disk screen, select Create a virtual hard disk.
-
In the Name field, enter a name for the virtual hard disk.
-
In the Location field, select a location in which to store the virtual hard disk
-
In the Size field, if desired, retain the default of 127 GB.

Notes:
- The maximum size for the virtual hard drive is dictated by the availability of total hard drive space on the V90 Server.
- Make your selections depending on whether you already have a hard disk or you are creating a new hard disk.
-
-
On the Installation Options screen, select one of the options and then click Next.

Note: It is recommended that you select Install an operating system later.
-
On the Summary screen, review your selections and, if correct, click Finish to create the VM. Otherwise, click Previous to make corrections.
