For OTS applications, one or more machines run simulator control processors or SCP Apps. The SCP Apps also need an SCP Engine and a SimSync Engine
For DCS/PAS checkout applications, where the Foxboro installed computers will eventually be staged in the actual DCS control room, do not install SCP software.
Prior to installing SCP, verify the following:
-
You have reviewed the section Minimum System Requirements and ensured that this machine meets the hardware and Multicore requirements
-
You have reviewed the section Prerequisites and, if required, installed KB3033929
-
This machine is connected to the FECN (formerly MESH) network
-
You have reviewed the section Software Overview for Typical Simulation System Configurations and identified your configuration
-
You have reviewed the section Installation Order by Workstation Type and installed DYNSIM if your version of DYNSIM must be installed prior to SCP installation
-
This machine is disconnected from the company LAN and the internet
The following steps describe the installation of SCP.
-
Navigate to the CDROM, right click on setup.exe and choose Run as Administrator.
If either of the prerequisites, Visual Studio 2013 C++ redistributable or Microsoft .NET 4.5.1, is not already installed, the installer will proceed to install either or both as necessary.
-
If Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 is not present, the setup will now install it as shown below. Click Accept to install.

-
If Visual C++ Runtime libraries are not found, click Install when asked.

-
The installer displays progress bars during installation.

-
The Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 install for (x86) and (x64) proceeds and completes.

-
When the SCP Setup Wizard appears, if the system detects a Microsoft KB is missing, the user is prompted to Cancel the installation and install the KB. Only click OK if you are certain the patch is installed, which may be the case if Microsoft rolled up the fix in a subsequent KB. When attempting to install the KB, Microsoft will notify the user if the underlying update already exists.

-
When the SCP Setup wizard appears, click Next.

-
SCP will confirm that FoxView and CCS are not installed on this machine.

-
When the Welcome wizard appears, click Next.

-
Check the I accept the terms in the License Agreement box, and then click Next, to accept the EULA.

-
Either accept the default Destination Folder, or browse change to a desired directory using the Change button, and then click Next.

-
If a license server name already exists, a warning appears. Click OK to dismiss the warning and continue.

-
Select the appropriate security type (FNP 11.13, FNP 11.14, FNP 11.16). Provide the correct name of the License server machine in the format @MachineName (example: 27000@License1) or @IPaddress (example: [email protected]). This will add the IPASSI_LICENSE_FILE environment variable to your system. Click Next to continue.

-
In the Ready to Install SimSci SCP screen, click Install.

-
When the installer’s progress bar disappears, click Next.

-
Select the NIC that will connect the SCP computer to the FECN (formerly MESH) network. Select only one and then click Next. You cannot cancel the install from this screen. You must select one NIC and click Next.

Note: The list of installed adapters might differ for different test machines based on the hardware configuration. Select the NIC that is connected to the Foxboro switch through which SCP and Foxboro software communicates.
-
Click Install when the Windows Security dialog box appears.

-
Click Finish to complete the installation.

-
Reboot the computer when prompted.

-
Proceed to section Post Installation Steps.
