You can use the Configuration menu to create a set of Equipment and Capabilities that exist in your manufacturing facilities. You can also define Units of Measure, Parameter Extensions, Parameter Groups, or Keywords in the initial phase of configuration as per the requirement of a plant. It is advisable to identify and define all the required Parameter Extensions and Groups as they affect all related items such as Equipment, Formula Templates, Recipe Templates, and Formulas.
You can also configure the System Configuration items such as Auto LogOff Duration and Auto Purge Settings.
NOTE: Capabilities and Variables are only available in the AVEVA Recipe Management Professional Edition.
Capabilities are abstract functional entities (mix, bake, etc.) that are used by both Equipment and Recipe Procedures. Each Capability has a set of parameters and a configurable set of control/status functionality. Capabilities can also be defined to require an "Ack On Exit" by the operator before they complete. The set of Capabilities makes up a global Capability library.
Equipment defines physical entities in a manufacturing facility. Equipment is configured to include zero or more Capabilities from the global Capability library. Equipment can be configured with a set of parameters and also inherits all of the parameters defined by the included Capabilities. Equipment defined parameters are used by Formula Download operations while Capability defined parameters are used for Recipe Execution. The Equipment, Capabilities, Equipment parameters, and Capability parameters can all have I/O references defined, linking them to the control system.
Equipment also can have variables defined. These are given I/O references and can be used when building Recipe Procedures (in transitions and loops). All variables in the system are available to be used in Recipe Procedures as long as the Equipment owning the variable remains in scope.
Equipment must contain all the Capabilities and variables used by a Recipe procedure for the Recipe to be able to be assigned to the Equipment at execution. For a Formula to be able to be assigned to Equipment at execution, its parameter set must include all the Equipment parameters defined on Equipment.
