Edit Capabilities

If you have necessary permission, you can make changes to an existing Capability.

You cannot delete a Capability, but you can change an existing Capability state to Obsolete if it is not in use. You cannot make a Capability obsolete unless all Equipment associated with the selected Capability have been made obsolete. You must check in Capability before it is set to Obsolete.

You must check out a Capability in order to make changes to it, other than changing the state. You can check out Capabilities individually, or you can check out multiple Capabilities by using the Multi Select function. For more information see Multi Select Feature.

To edit a Capability

1. From the Capabilities Summary page, click the Capability you want to edit.

2. If you selected a single item on the summary page, click Check Out on the details page.
   Once the Capability is checked out, it returns to the Draft state and the Edit and Delete buttons appear in the parameter grid.

3. Click the Edit button. The existing parameters appear in an edit mode so you can make changes. The Update and Cancel buttons also appear.

   NOTE: The maximum length of the parameter for a Capability cannot exceed 329 characters and parameter description cannot exceed 512 characters.

4. Click the Update button to save the changes you make to the parameter, while click the Cancel button to undo the changes to the parameter. You can click Delete to remove a parameter.

5. Once you have made all your changes, click Check In to save your changes permanently. If you do not want to save your changes, you can click Undo Check Out to return all the fields to their original values.

6. Specify the state of your Capability by clicking the Set State button. You must have permission to change the state of an existing Capability.
   Once the state is changed to Current or Obsolete, Draft is no longer an option. You can only change the state from Current to Obsolete or vice versa. The state of a Current or Obsolete Capabilities is automatically changed back to Draft if it is checked out again.

7. Click the back arrow icon to return to the Summary page. All the changes are updated and are visible in the Capabilities tile.
