Formula Parameters

The following table describes the Formula parameter columns for an export/import:

Column

Description

Parameter (required)

Name of the Formula parameter.

Description

Displays the description of the Formula Parameter. The value cannot be updated during import.

Group (ignored)

The value is ignored for import. Group comes from the Formula Template.

Data Type

The value is ignored for import. DataType comes from the Formula Template.

Use Default (required)

Can be true or false. If true, the record data is ignored on import. The parameter is set so all values come from the FormulaTemplate. If false, Value, MinValue, MaxValue are used, overriding the Template. FrequentlyUsed and Extension values can also be overridden.

Value (optional)

The value should match the data type.

MinValue (optional for Integer and Double, not used by String, Boolean and defined List data types)

The value should match the data type.

MaxValue (optional for Integer and Double, not used by String, Boolean and defined List data types)

The value should match the data type.

FrequentlyUsed (optional)

Frequently used status of the Formula Template parameter.

UOM (ignored)

The UOM comes from the FormulaTemplate.

Important:

  • If the import csv file contains a parameter name that does not exist in the current Formula, the import fails.

  • The number of parameters for the import .csv file can be less than the current Formula as long as the names match.

  • If you try to modify the parameter extensions which are part of a parameter group for which you do not have the permission, the import will not be performed and the modified values will not be reflected for the parameter extensions.

You can export parameters for a Formula.

To export Formula Parameters

  1. From the Formula Summary page, click the item with the parameters you want to export. The Formula Details page appears.

  2. Click Export. A confirmation message appears.

  3. Do any of the following:

    • Click Open to open the .CSV file.

    • Click Save to download the .CSV file at the default location.

    • Click Save as to save the .CSV file at the location where you want to download the file.

    • Click Save and Open to save the file and then open the .CSV file.

Importing Formula Parameters

You can import Formula Parameters to create a new Formula. Importing of Formula Parameters can be done either by using a .CSV file or from the already executed Recipe/Formula.

When you import Formula Parameters using the History option, the following logic is used to import the parameters:

  • Formula/Capability Parameters that have a 1 to 1 mapping will be flagged for import.

  • Formula Parameters that are mapped to multiple Capability Parameters will only be flagged for import if

    • All the mapped values are the same.

    • The value is flagged as coming from the Formula.

  • Values imported into a list type must match a value defined in that list to be flagged for import.

  • Only Formula Parameter values used during the Formula download or Recipe execution is imported.

  • Only Target and Extension values are imported from history. Minimum/Maximum values are not imported.

  • Imported Input\Output values are scaled back down to the Base Formula Size (reverse scaling) if you edit an Input parameter target or multi-mapped parameters consistently before starting/downloading and then using the executed Formula or Recipe for import. This will also reverse the percent mappings applied in History and scale back the percent mapping to the 100 percent Formula value.

To import Formula Parameters

  1. On the Formulas Details page, click Import. The Import Parameters slide-in window appears.

  2. In the slide-in window, select any of the following sources to import parameter:

    • Click From File, enter the name of the parameter .CSV file you want to import or click Browse to search for a .CSV file that contains Formula Parameters in a valid format.

    • Click From History to import Formula Parameters from a Recipe or Formula that has already been completed or executed. A list of executed Recipe or Formula that belongs to the same Formula Template appears in the History grid. Select one of the Recipe/Formula listed. It will import all the Formula Parameter values.

NOTE: A warning message appears if any values are not imported. For example, if a Formula Parameter is mapped to many Capability Parameters, changes that only affect one of those Capability Parameters will be reported as a warning.

    1. Once you have selected your source, click Import. A confirmation message appears.

    2. Click OK. The imported parameters are entered in the Parameters grid.
