Validate the Expression

  • Last UpdatedMay 16, 2024
  • 1 minute read

The variables used in an expression are validated when you save an expression in the expression editor. It validates for the following:

  • If you use variables in the transition expression that do not belong to the current Equipment scope, then an error message appears with a hyperlink. These invalid changes or expressions are not saved.

  • For a transition to be valid, the variables used in it must belong to a valid Equipment and all the variables must be available in at least one Equipment. If the variables in the expression are valid but cause the Equipment scope to be ‘no Equipment’, then an appropriate error is displayed.

  • If the user saves the transition, then the set of Capabilities belonging to a valid Equipment will be changed and will reflect in the Capability library.

NOTE: You can perform the validation only when the Recipe Template is in checked-out state. If the Recipe Template is in checked-in state, the expression editor appears in the Read-only mode and is not available for editing and validation.

To validate the expression

  1. Open the Recipe Template details page and then click any transition. The Transition Details slide-in window appears.

  2. Specify the Variables in the expression editor to create an expression.

  3. Click Apply.

    • A successful validation notification appears if the expression is valid and the expression is in scope.

    • A validation error message is displayed with a hyperlink if validation errors exist or the variables used in the expression are invalid. You can click the link to get the detailed error information. This information can be used to troubleshoot the procedure.

  4. Click OK.
